Closing thoughts on SASR's Art "Theft"

Hey everyone!

As you may all have heard, Steve Lycett over at Sumo did write an apology on one of his level artist's behalf, and a thoughtful, pleasant one at that!

He explained to me that what happened was that early in the development stages of the game, one of the level artists were making placeholder artwork and searched via google for official Sonic pictures. Apparently, he thought my picture of Sonia was official.

The artwork was sent to Sonic Team, and they noticed that my picture of Sonia didn't belong to them. They were told to fix this on all platforms. Somehow they missed it on the Wii version and the "low detail tracks" of the PC version. They're most likely going to remove the image from the PC version, but the image on the Wii version is stuck in there.

He also explained how they never meant to steal or not give any credit or a thanks.

It all makes sense to me. And SEGA staff members offered a degree of compensation (something "nice" out of their so-called goodie bag). I must admit, this is quite exciting!

In response, I expressed my fortune for even having my work in the game and how I really don't mind it in the game at all! Now I think all is well, since everything is sorted out. I also mentioned that I am most certainly going to keep them in mind when I seek for internships in college.

In short, I am very satisfied. Even more than that. I'm very, very happy. I almost think of this as a good omen that a career in video game art is what I should do. It's kind of silly to think, but who knows?

Have a pleasant weekend my friends! And thank you soooo much for your kind words and support! You guys are awesome!

I know that this is very old, But I'm Honestly surprised something like this happened! O.o a Fan-Art actually made it into a game by acident!! XDD I mean this is unexpected! XD

But it's good to know that they sent you an apology and removed the picture from most versions of the game besides the Wii Version. ^^

Yeah it was such a trip! But I'm actually kinda bummed out that they took it out of the PC version. :XD: Oh well!
Well At least the Wii Version still has it! XD You can treasure that version as the "First Fan-Art to appear in a Official Video Game!" 83

Definitely! :D
But Still,When I heard about this,at first I thought this was just a joke until I read more about it,and I was like..."Wow...a DeviantART Sonic Fan-Art...was acidently...put in a Sega Game? O.O"

Ever since this event,I always wonder if this might happen again. XD I mean imagine if this drawing of yours was acidently put in Super Smash Bros. Brawl...XD
